Duties & Responsibilities
Under general direction, develops, implements, and monitors programs that drive year-over-year increases in safety and ergonomics and maintain highest environmental quality standards.

Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes health, safety and environmental (HSE) recommendations accordingly. Develops methods to drive continuous improvement of HSE practices. Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental and policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all HSE regulations and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Serves as contact with all regulatory bodies. May provide work direction to others.

Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability Support

Working as Full-time Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability Support, you will be responsible researching and administering governmental regulations, performing general paperwork such as data entry and filing, assisting with administrative reporting, conducting trainings and monitoring safety related functions. This is an entry-level position based out of our facility located at 1801 Theurer Blvd, Winona, MN.

Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
o Ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and local environmental health and safety regulations including; OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, EPA, IBC, IFC and others
o Performing duties such as data entry, analytics, running reports related to environmental, health and safety, sustainability, security
o Conducting various audits, inspections, and trainings as needed
o Assisting management with related programs and processes
o Supporting, facilitating, communicating and resolving program related requirements related to environmental, health & safety, sustainability, ISO 14001 & 45001 management systems, ESG topics
o Coordinating and organizing various committees, trainings, management meetings, and facility related tasks
o Supporting various inspections, investigations, permitting requirements, auditing requirements as need on related topics

Qualifications
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work
o Possess a current full valid driver’s license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as needed
o Prior administrative/customer service experience OR industry experience and product knowledge
o Proficient written and oral communication skills
o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite
o Highly motivated, self-directed and customer service oriented
o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
o Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
o Willingness to travel while working a flexible schedule

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • At least 20+ years of progressive safety experience developing, implementing, and managing safety programs in the utility industry is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated people management experience required.
  • Experience with safety data management systems is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety performance within the electric and gas utility preferred.
  • Engagement with trade associations to understand industry trends and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Able to assess and mitigate risk associated with the Company’s operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to guide and direct safety teams.
  • Able to implement and manage safety programs across the organization.
  • Analytical thinking to identify trends, analyze data related to safety incidents, and make informed decisions.
  • Able to work collaboratively with other departments to integrate safety into all aspects of the business.
  • Proven ability to identify safety issues, investigate incidents, and develop effective solutions.
